Junk at Camelot

A few weeks ago we went out to Camelot to see Mic Conway's National Junk band, supported by our friends in the Rusty Spring Syncopators. I have been wanting to get out to this venue ever since it opened! It's owner, Yaron, is an amazing collector of everything 'camels' - the place is chocker-block with quirky bits and pieces of camel-related things he has acquired over the years. It is like sitting in a cabinet of curiosities, with the added bonus of yummy food and great music.

The bands were such fun. I had never seen Mic Conway's group - but am now a huge fan. They were seriously entertaining. Not only did they produce a great sound, but there was tap dancing, humour and magic tricks! I can't wait to go see them again!

I wore a new (to me) dress, made of the most lovely silk. It might just be my new favourite!

a party dress

Last night I had the pleasure of attending Kayla's birthday party, dress code: "that thing you never get an opportunity to wear". I seem to wear most of the silly things I own, but this lovely lace dress I bought from clever nettle a few years ago really doesn't come out as often as it should. Besides, where better to take it than a birthday party? I felt like a little girl ready for a game of pass the parcel!

Our Nation's Capital

These are the last of the photos from our trip (which was almost 9 weeks ago now! Opps - so much for real-time blogging). We spent a night with our friends who have recently made Canberra their (I hope temporary) home. It was a wonderful time with yummy food and boardgames, wrapped up with a visit to the War Memorial.

Postcards from France, made as mementos for American troops.

Some photos from the wonderful temporary exhibition of military nursing.

Braidwood

Historic Braidwood - home to apple trees, old fashioned pubs and over-priced antique stores. We stopped to browse, then rattled on to Canberra.

I just want to rant about these shoes for a minute, because they so are completely wonderful! I ummmmed and ahhhed about whether to get them after seeing Emily's, then finally went for it and bought them. They are so ridiculously comfy. These photos don't really show them off, but I have no doubt you will be seeing them a whole lot more!
